Post lockdown staycation

Like many, a trip abroad this year isn’t looking likely.

However, after many months of working in an acute hospital during this pandemic, a trip away somewhere in the UK was needed.

I have to admit, finding and booking a trip wasn’t an easy task. Many places I had seen, once lockdown was lifted either tripled their prices or sold out immediately.

We finally settled on a log cabin @heronlakerestreat (North Wales).

This was easy to book and everything was contactless, including keys being stored in key boxes outside your log cabin.

Overall, the log cabin was spotless. We stayed in the partridge lodge. It was fully equip for all your needs (there was even a fresh bag of ice in the freezer), which I thought was a lovely touch.

The hot tub was obviously the feature!!

We spent many hours in here, from early morning to a late evening dip.

It was clean and well maintained, with easy temperature control and beautiful lighting for the evening.

The hot tubs are not very private and overlooked by neighbouring cabins, but beautiful none the less.

We where also lucky with our location, as our hot tub was shaded by a huge oak tree. This meant we even got shelter (unlike others locally) from the rain 😜.

Unfortunately the WiFi in the log cabin was poor, however there was a smart television in the lounge, which once hot-spotted from your phone we where able to watch Netflix (ideal for little ones).

The only complaints I have are; check in and check out. If the prior/post booking customer opts for a late check out or early check in before you, then neither are available for you.

I felt at least one option should be available for all, and I added this in my review.

Due to covid, there was also a delivery option to your cabin from a local restaurant. This wasn’t something we used so cannot review, but we loved the idea of having a restaurant quality meal delivered to you.

The cost was slightly inflated post lockdown to their usual prices however, I still found a reasonable price I was willing to pay for a few nights stay.

I would definitely recommend staying here, and we will be back at a later date.

Our next adventure...

We just didn’t want our staycation to end, so whilst we where away we booked another night stay in Anglesey.

I found this beautiful hobbit house on Air B n B: Chez la Baggins.

All I can say is wow!!

This hobbit house, is very private with a private composite toilet and private shower cubicle.

The house itself was spotless, fully equip with all your needs. With complementary tea, coffee, condiments, milk and fresh hen eggs.

There was a log burner with logs for inside the house, and even an electric blanket on the bed for cooler evenings.

There was well placed candles and fairy lights around the cabin, giving it a lovely warm and cosy feel.

To the back of the house, there is a seating area with beautiful views. There is a fire pit and logs (at an addition cost) for an evening fire under the stars. What more can you want!

This was a special find, and I cannot recommenced enough.

Beautiful for a night away or a few nights as a family, with beautiful local beaches in Anglesey to explore.

I hope you have liked the insight to our recent staycation.

I would love to hear your staycation experiences, and find some more unique and recommend places to stay.
